Convert Your Text to Outlines
With countless fonts available online, it’s impossible for us to keep every typeface on file. To ensure your design prints exactly as intended, please convert any specialised text into curves/paths before sending your artwork. This process turns your text into a graphic object, locking in its appearance and preventing automatic font substitutions.
If you’re unable to outline your text, simply tell us the font name and we’ll attempt to source it for you.
Please note: if additional time or licensing is required to locate the font, an extra charge may be applied.
Colour Palette for Artwork
Use the Right Colour Palette
For the best print results, please ensure your artwork is supplied in CMYK — the colour format used for printing. Files provided in RGB (screen colour mode) may produce inaccurate or unexpected colour shifts when printed.
If you’re working with Pantone spot colours, we’ll do our best to match them as closely as possible.

DTF Applications
DTF (Direct-to-Film) Text Guidelines
To ensure sharp, accurate results when producing DTF transfers, please follow the current industry standards below.
1. Outline Your Text
All fonts must be converted to curves/paths before sending your artwork. This ensures your text prints exactly as designed and prevents any font substitution.
2. Minimum Text Size
DTF is more forgiving than HTV, but very small text may still lose detail:
- Minimum height: 3–4 mm
- Ideal height: 5–8 mm
- Avoid fine details below: 0.5 mm
3. Recommended Font Styles
- Bold or medium-weight sans-serif fonts
- Rounded or smooth-edged typefaces
- Simple serif fonts (non-thin)
Avoid thin, condensed, decorative, or overly complex fonts.
4. Use CMYK Colour Mode
All artwork must be supplied in CMYK. RGB files can shift in colour when printed.
5. Accepted File Formats
- PDF (outlined)
- SVG
- AI / EPS (outlined)
- High-resolution PNG (300 DPI)
6. Font Sourcing Notice
If text cannot be outlined and we need to locate your font,
additional charges may apply for sourcing or licensing.
Embroidery Applications
Embroidery Text Guidelines
Embroidery has unique limitations due to stitch size, thread thickness, and fabric texture. To ensure clean, readable results, please follow these current industry standards.
1. Outline Your Text
All fonts must be converted to curves/paths before sending artwork. This allows your text to be digitised properly and ensures it stitches exactly as designed.
2. Minimum Text Size
Smaller text can fill in or become unreadable once stitched. For best results:
- Minimum height: 6–7 mm
- Ideal height: 8–10 mm
- Avoid small details below: 1 mm
3. Recommended Font Styles
- Bold sans-serif fonts
- Block or varsity-style text
- Simple serif fonts with good thickness
Avoid thin, condensed, script, decorative, or highly detailed fonts. These often fill in or lose definition when stitched.
4. Stitch Types Used
Embroidery machines typically use different stitch types depending on your text size:
- Satin Stitch: ideal for small to medium text
- Fill Stitch: used for large lettering
- Run Stitch: only for ultra-small details (not recommended for main text)
5. Accepted File Formats
Please supply your artwork in one of the following vector formats:
- PDF (outlined)
- AI / EPS (outlined)
- SVG
Stitch files (such as DST, PES, EXP) are created during the digitising process and will be produced by us.
6. Font Sourcing Notice
If text cannot be outlined and we need to locate the font used,
additional charges may apply for sourcing or licensing.
